Faulty ceiling panels

845U
I am looking at used Monaco motorhomes. I have noticed in several of the coaches I have looked at, the ceiling panels appear to have side to side ceiling areas that seem like the foam has deteriorated leaving a half inch wide by 2-4 feet long area where the leather ceiling cover appears to by glued to the wood panel without the foam in-between. I am assuming the ceiling panels are constructed with a top layer of wood,a middle layer of foam, bottom layer of leather. Anyone have any info about this problem, it's cause, is it something to worry about, and how to fix or replace the panels. Or should I just pass on these coaches. Thanks for your input.

The problem was that the foam deteriorated and the entire panel was not replaced; just cleaned out the bad foam and reglued the fabric back to the wood. The ceiling fabric comes with the foam backer that is glued to the wood during installation into the coach.

faulty ceiling panels

Thanks, that makes sense. In one of the coaches I like every panel in the front of the coach has this problem in the same position on each panel. Perhaps a stack or roll of ceiling cloth was folded or some how damaged in storage prior to assembly. If that is the case this problem may not get any worse over time, but I think it would bother me just because I don't like the look and could be more difficult to sell later.

Thanks again for your input..
