Exclamation Fiberglass RV Roof - Help!!

Hello Irv2 and fellow RV lovers.

I own a 2004 Winnebago Brave Class A motorhome. Now that it's coming up on 20 years, I'm starting to have some issues with the roof.

The fiberglass along the edge of the motorhome has come loose (see in attached pictures.) The rest of the roof still feels pretty solid (although I know I need to do some re-cocking and a sealant very soon (if you have suggestions here, great!!) But my main question is about the fiberglass edge... Is this something that is repairable? Nothing is cracked, it is just coming up along the edge. I am no motorhome roofing expert, so I'm hoping you all have some tips on how this can be fixed, or if you think I need a whole new roof. I am praying somehow it can be reattached / fixed, but again I don't know enough about fiberglass to know if that is possible or not.

I appreciate you taking time to read this post and any information or suggestions you may have.

Thank you!!
Tasha

First of all….Welcome!!!!
Secondly…..bummer your first post is an issue
Thirdly…..Your very lucky this didn’t rip off doing 60 mph, then you’d have a bigger problem. Others will chime in here too but I think this a relatively easy fix if the rest of the filon(fiberglass roofing) is in good shape. There are multiple threads on this exact Winnebago issue. Search for them in the Winnebago owners group.

That edge can be placed back in the channel where it came from. As you stated it’s not cracked, that’s good. You’ll probably need an extra set of hands and some wide putty knives to get it back in place. It sits in the channel ~1/2” then a bead of ProFlex sealant/adhesive holds it in place. Make sure you remove ALL the old sealant and do full length on both sides of the coach(so this doesn’t happen on the remaining radius edges). Check at least yearly for condition and redo when warranted.

Good luck!!!

Your best bet is to go to Winnieowners.com (an IRV2 sister site) and read all about this. This is a routine maintenance item and there are a multitude of threads and posts on this. As Bob wrote, you're lucky you didn't lose your roof.

Here are a couple of things to get you started:

https://www.google.com/search?q=roof...nnieowners.com

Some of us, after sealing the edge, cover it with Eternabond tape as an extra layer of protection, but this isn't universal.

IRV2 is a great forum but Winnieowners.com is a better place for information specific to Winnebagos. Conversely, if you're looking for information that's not brand-specific, IRV2 will give you a wider source. Since it's a sister site, you can use your IRV2 login.
