File this under 'should've known better'

I ran my full wall slide in last night with one of the basement doors open. I would like to say that I thought it would clear it but the reality is that I just forgot that I had left it open. So, dear reader, who wins in a battle between hydraulic slide and basement door? The slide wins, mostly. The top outer corner of the door is a little rounded now and there is a fresh gash on the very bottom of the slideout trim. I guess it could have been a lot worse.

I am only posting this as a cautionary tale so hopefully nobody else makes the same stupid mistake.

You might consider straps on the doors under the slide, that will prevent them from opening higher than the bottom of the slide. Mine has that on it, and it's saved me from making the same mistake once.
It makes it more of a bother to get in and out of the basement because the door is lower, but in my mind that's a fair trade.

Things happen. Made a few goofs myself over the years.

I'm lucky, my basement storage doors are on the bottom of-and move with the slide-room. That is likely the only reason I haven't crunched one.

My basement doors have a switch to avoid this happening. If a door is open the slide will not open.

Mine all open horizontally..... they clear no matter what. Now on my previous fiver a LARGE top hinged hatch opened to where it hit the bottom of the slide, and the trim would catch it at it's root over the FULL width of 3 feet....

That was messy.

Yeah mine are hinged horizontally too but apparently at some point in the retraction process the trim is lower than the top of the door!

The basement doors on my coach under the slide are hinged horizontally and open downward, so no problem with them being open. The only problem I have is that as soon as I send the slide out I will need something out of one of the bays and have to crawl under the slide - never fails
