Fire Extinguisher - Which Kind?

I believe I have dry chemical extinguishers in our MH.
I have been told that using these inside the coach will damage/destroy the electical wiring system and all electronics components?
Is this true?

Don't get me wrong, if the coach is on fire I will not be worried about saving the electronics!

But what if it is a small issue, maybe on the stove or something. I would like to know that I can put the fire out without risking the entire electrical system.

Not true at all. The powder in the dry extinguisher is non-conducting and non-corrosive. It is, however, a mess to clean up because it's so fine, and it also can be a respiratory irritant if breathed in confined spaces. If you need to use it, use it and then vacate the area until the dust settles. The powder will clog bags in a vacuum much more quickly than household dirt, so check the bags often during cleanup. Pigman1 is right. Fire extinguishers are rated by class for the type of fires they are to be used on.

I use dry-chem, as they are effective and smaller than CO2. The dry chem won't hurt wiring. It is a bitch to clean up after, but how often do you think you might have to clean up after a fire? Not very often, right? It's a good choice. They are small, efficient and easy to use.
