First big road trip
Hello! Getting ready to take our first big road trip to Yellowstone next month from the Seattle area and was wondering if anyone had any mechanical upgrade suggestions for a 2001 fourwinds hurricane on a Workhorse chassis. I've already did the ignition upgrade. Just looking for some preventive upgrades to avoid any mechanical irregularities. This is my first motorhome so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Check the tire dates and get a TPMS. Have you checked/changed all the fluids? Everything working OK?
Then enjoy the trip.

I changed the oil and put synthetic in and bled the brakes. The tire dates are 2012 and was told they were changed two years ago. They look new. Good tread and no cracks. Everything else seems to be good after my ignition issue. Working on replacing the furnace fan now because of a loud squeal.

Check the condition of all your hoses and belts. If you don't have one, look into a good EMS surge protector. You'll find that most of us are using the Progressive Industries unit. Lifetime warranty makes it top choice.

Make sure you replace the air filter in the generator and engine as well as both fuel filters. Make sure you have and understand the proper air pressure. It's not a bad idea to carry a complete set of belts.
Remember, you'll be better off running the generator and a/c units rather than the dash air in the heat of the day.

Thank you for the info! Having a hard time figuring out the right belts. Actually having a hard time finding any parts that I need.

Go to the auto parts store and look up the parts by motor type and size rather than by model of RV. Also you can try using Amazon.
ALSO.....if I remember correctly, the GM Workhorse units has some problems with the spark plug wires. I think it had something to do with the dip stick tube and the spark plug wire running too close to it. Do a google search and see what comes up.
as I said before, enjoy the journey and don't worry about the little stuff. There's nothing like traveling by motor home.
