Floating floor
I'm updating the floor in my 2000 Bounder and wanted members thoughts on installing a vinyl plank floating floor. I've heard peole have done floating with no issues and also that it must be glued. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I installed Shaw Industries vinyl floor planks last year. I was replacing carpet in the bedroom. I installed luan underlayment over the existing plywood to raise the level up a tad so the new vinyl matched the height of the adjoining tile. The luan subfloor had marks every 6" or so for staples. I then dry fit the planking until I was happy with the layout. Shaw Ind. has a spray glue for their planking, which I used over the entire floor. Overall, I'm very happy with the result. That said, when it's very cold the vinyl planks shrink and expose small gaps between the ends of the planks. The gaps go away as the coach warms up, of course. For that reason I'd install the planks for a tight fit when the weather is warm and leave a slight gap at the edges for expansion to avoid buckling - which I haven't seen.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
I used premium vinyl tiles laid in a diamond pattern. We love it!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Lowes supplied the interlocking vinyl flooring I put in my '99 MA. It went well with no major kinks.
Before installing I coated the sub floor with Thompson's seal to prevent swelling encase of a flood or large spill. We have two small dogs and all the protection wont go unused.
Hope this helps, good luck and keep us posted.

Used contact cement on my vinyl planks. No issues transitioning from cold to hot.

We had a regular flooring guy (not a morecexpensuve RV guy) install sheet vinyl in a previous couch. Living, kitchen, and bath areas. About $1000 for both materials and labor. Came out really nice and practical.

Bounder floor
Thanks too all for the input on floor replacement. I used a premium vinyl adhesive with the peel and stick and the job went well. The adhesive actually helped because it gave some additional working time on the planks.
