Florida RV Ins. Blues

Hi fellow fulltimers from Florida.
Anyone know which Insurance Co. has best rates for RV registered in Florida? Went with National General but the rate doubled from our CA. policy. What a shock! It is $1100 yr. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Foremost if you're fulltimers.

After moving from Michigan (with a clean record) our rates doubled with State Farm with the only reason given was “because” we’ve since changed to Allstate which significantly lowered the rates but it was bunched in with home owners.

Still looking for something better but reliable.

Those looking for a Foremost agent can call any Farmers agent; Foremost is part of them.

I have my class C insured by them and Farmers has my auto and homeowner's too.

Part of the Florida sticker shock is because windshield replacement has a zero deductible but still not enough to justify the higher rates. I like progressive because I could go agreed value and with higher deductible limits.

I am a member of FMCA and got my insurance (Progressive) through them. And it hasn't gone up.

Can't tell whether $1100 is a lot or a little without some idea of the year/make/model and amounts of coverage, but Florida rates vary a lot by county. South Florida, whether east or west, the Keys and the Jacksonville area are much higher than most of the rest of the state.

Whether a given company is higher or lower than average in your area depends solely on how you fit into their rate tables. I've seen seemingly very similar rigs & owners pay 1.5x or 2x as much. You need to shop around and see what company works the best for your insurance needs. Or ask an RV specialist agency like Millers RV Insurance to find you the best rate for the coverage you want.

Just got a quote from Progressive for $1200 a year in St Pete FL.

That is on a 2017 Thor Axis 25.2.

A bit more then the $340 rate on my 2000, 30 ft, Class C Gulfstream.

It's a little difficult to say if $1100 is unreasonable or not. For a 2018 Marathon coach that'd be a pretty good price. For a 1973 Concord, not so much.

We are with Progressive, and are domiciled in Okaloosa county. I believe ours is a bit more than $1100.

Cost of Insurance

I pay $1300 for my 2018 Georgetown 31L5 and retiring this year and moving to Florida so $1100 sounds good to me when I relocate down there shortly.

Progressive is decent for us. Had AAA for 45 years but Florida does not have them. The AAA office sent me to the progressive for a couple of years and I finally just went all in with Progressive.

Florida is a no fault state so I think that along with so many tourists and old folks the rates are high.

I thought I could have an old truck with no insurance on it and found out otherwise. If it is registered it must have insurance. Not cheap for a 2003 vehicle either.
