Did your transponder "beep" when you passed through?
I had my sunpass in a rental and was driving all over the tri state area. It would "beep" but I was never charged.

EZ pass transponders don't beep and we have some high speed lanes, 70 MPH, and there is no way to know if it worked at not.................at that moment.
If you get a letter, it didn't work.

well thats the thing. I never did get any surcharges from the rental car company or any charges on my Sun Pass account. The technology wouldn't be much different with either system...only the signal frequency.
The rental car company would not have appreciated me traveling a thousand miles out of state to obtain a toll violation (or 20).

I don't mind paying $10 for the priviledge of zooming 2 vehicles thru toll booths, it will probably save that much in gas just not having to stop and start again. But $25 is more than I want to contribute to the state of FL for the priviledge of spending so much money there.
If the $25 Sunpass cannot be switched from one car to another, why does anyone buy one?

You'd be amazed at how fast the tolls add up. SunPass vehicles pay less than cash, and there are some places you cannot get on or off the road without it. That $25 pays for itself in no time.

So in Florida at least it pays to remove the towed transponder. To be clear I get charged under the MH transponder for both vehicles and the car under that transponder as well if both are left in the vehicles.

It's weight and axels my motor home has 2 axels and is 32,000 lbs loaded, so they billed me twice at that rate. Argued that is wrong it should be passenger car and a motor home. They're comment was if you put the EZpass in the window you'll get billed properly. Nothing they could do about it now. So in Florida removing EZpass transponder from toad you get charged the same as if in other states you leave it in toad, Man we're going to have look a little closer at our bill when we're traveling.:
