FMCA Class A now type A?
In the latestMaybe they are worried about Class warfare FMCA magazine they are referring to Class A motor homes as Type A, all the way down the spectrum "B","C" and Super "C". Is this the latest politically correct terminology? Maybe they are worried about Class , just seems stupid. I've seen B and C worth more that some A class. What's your take?

I suppose the move from "Class" to "Type" is intended to remove some misplaced concept that a Class A is somehow superior to a Class B, C or C+. As you say, check the price tag on some of the top-of-the-line C+ rigs and it will pretty well knock that premise in the head, regardless of whether it's referred to as a Class C+ or a Type C+.

Gee! I thought they may be referring to the "Type" of driver, like "He's a type A."

In one of the seminars we attended at the FMCA rally in Madison it was mentioned that this was an industry agreed upon change in terminology.

To me it makes sense; Most states' Drivers' Licenses are issued in classes. More than one person has had confusion that owning a class B motorhome required a class B license, etc.

I always thought it was pretentious when people started referring to their motor homes as "coaches". I think this is something along the same line.

Less characters to type in the word "coaches."
However the terminology goes back to the 1920-1930's.
Also think of FMCA. It is Family Motor Coach Association.
Maybe it is not quite as pretentious as thought.

This is TRUE!!
But it actually took place in 2000 and it was from RVIA as they changed the designations back then. Since most RV manufacturers are members of RVIA they should also have changed their designations, but most haven't.
