Fogged windows

Tom,I DIY fixed five of my fogged Windows two years ago and they have been perfect since. I got my repair kit from Dave Root. There are a few tricks that can make the difference between success and failure.

Fogged Windows

Just a word of caution, I had four windows defogged at a place in Pahrump, Nevada. I was going to have all of them done but they scratched the heck out of the window frames and the coach paint so I stopped them before they could do anymore damage. Within a year the windows they did started to fog up again. Last year I took the motorhome to RV Fog Doctor in Searcy, Arkansas and they pulled out all the windows, cleaned, resealed and reinstalled them. Not only did they do an excellent job, they touched up the paint from the previous work. I know the glass company in Pahrump still does window defogging but I would stay away from them.

I repaired all but 2 windows in our previous MH. Purchased the supplies from CR Laurence. Pretty sure it's what comes in the Dave Root kit at less than half the price. A couple of panes were etched pretty bad. I got replacement glass from RV Glass Repair Services.

Only had the MH a couple of years after the repairs but no seal failures on any of the repaired windows. Big job but I'm retired so I had the time.

Based on the $25 price tag, and negative reviews, for the Polyethylene Sealant Guide tool, I am planning on designing and 3D printing my own.

Does anyone still have the Polyethylene Sealant Guide tool that they could use to give me some starting measurements?

Also, if you used it, what improvements would you make to it?

Once finished, I'll post the 3D file here so others can use/print it in the future.
