Forest River Berkshire 360FWS - Are Berkshires Quality?

Hello everybody, I'm new and have been looking for an older Tiffin Diesel between 34 - 36 feet. Most are 20K - 30K beyond my available budget.

What does this RV community think about the Forest River Berkshires? Anybody have feedback for me? They seem to be more within my budget but I don't want to sacrifice quality...

Thank you all!

For new, or near new I'd recommend you stay with Tiffen, Entegra or Newmar.

If you are a DIY type, then search for a 2002-2008 Monaco, Holiday Rambler, Beaver, Travel Supreme, Country coach, or if it fits your budget, Foretravel.
Best of luck!

Yep, Forest River products are about a couple notches above Thor products, but that's not saying much.

Gildabarker:
We bought our 390BH 360 Berkshire new in 2011. Just rolled over 61,000 miles, We have had several issues but we have been satisfied with our purchase. If you are looking at Berkshires I recommend you only look at a 360 HP with a Allison 3000 or higher.

We have a 2013 390RB with 360hp and Allison 3000 transmission. We’ve had a few problems but doubt they’re any different than you’d have with the “higher end” brands.

Purchased it new and shopped several brands at Lazydays and liked its floor plans and amenities better than Tiffin, Fleetwood and others.

It has 62k miles on it now and is still going strong. Don’t regret the purchase a single minute.

The one thing you will always get on these here boards, are the Bad things. I will say that even the Million dollar MH's have issues but the equipment in them just cost more and is usually not designed for MH use or are one offs which makes matters worse when they malfunction.
So please, please take what you hear on these sites with a grain of salt.
Now as far DP's bottom end, make sure you get the 3000 Alison transmission. Most will tow 10k with that tranny. Most if not all of the 2500 Alison transmissions will only tow 5k or less. this is important when thinking about your toad. Also if going 4 flat make sure it can actually be towed 4 flat per the Owners manual, not what the stealer(dealer) tells you. All they want is your money and the commission sale. So if you trade it back in and get the correct Toad they just make more money.

I own a 2019 Tiffin bought new in 2020. Definitely had some issues but not SUPER bad. If I had to do it over again I would buy used like you are doing, but I highly recommend getting it inspected by a certified inspector. I will definitely do this if I ever get something different. Like a previous poster wrote, even the higher end coaches have issues. Just go to Red Bay’s camping area and speak to Tiffin owners. We aren’t all happy campers. I’ve finally got all of my issues resolved that I’m aware of, so I’m happy for now. Just don’t want you to think that getting a Tiffin will absolve you of problems. The Berkshire, if inspected and in good order may be just as joyful owning it.

We have a 2008 Berkshire that we’ve had for 10 years and absolutely LOVE her....

We currently full-time in her and have 83K miles on her....

No matter what coach you decide on, I promise you will have issues with it - it is par for the course for owning a shoebox on wheels....

Just pick the floor plan you like and go start having fun!!!!
