Formaldehyde Source and remediation

Anyone with experience resolving a formaldehyde issue in an older coach? We have a 1999 Country Coach Infinity and have tested for high formaldehyde. The previous owner refinished the wood throughout with Danish Oil about 1yr ago. There also was a spill under the sink that smells like a cleaner of some sort. All furniture is at least 4yrs+. Any thoughts or recommendations?

First of all, are you sure it's formaldehyde you're experiencing? It's unusual to have offgassing of formaldehyde in a coach that old and I'm not sure that Danish Oil contains formaldehyde.

If you're sure it's formaldehyde, ventilate as much as possible, open the windows and use a fan.

Another technique is to place a shallow pan or two of liquid ammonia cleaner and seal up the rig for awhile. The ammonia will react with formaldehyde. We used to spray liquid ammonia on newly produced particleboard to eliminate formaldehyde and meet the lower standards until low emission resins were developed.

A 19 year old MH with a formaldehyde problem? Highly unlikely, not even if it had been sealed up for all this time. There is formaldehyde in some brands of beer, wine, and hard liquor. You said it had been tested for formaldehyde, if it was positive, at what levels? If it were me, I would forget about it.
