Sky_Boss - sorry about that... But I can see it now - shorty drive shaft - runs a mixture of gas, diesel and nitrous (ending the gas v diesel debate) - opposing slides with dog house doing double duty as a mid floor bar - street legal slicks. Ok, well maybe not.

Something like this or is there a new concept on the horizon?

Still has that darn front end door.

That's a toy hauler of a different color for sure and mid engine as well. I had not seen it before. I was having trouble placing the radiator in my mind. Side and rear I get. Mid I wasn't sure about. Need to look more closely at this but not something I would be considering. I know it's all personal preference. Still - interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Newmar built quite a few of those (a lot more than TS I think) but they dropped them several years ago and I don't think Spartan even makes the chassis anymore.

well said

Well said. We just bought a 2010 fred allegro 35 qba. The front end noise is not too bad, but the generator is right under the master bed in back and the noise is noticeable. My wife and I could have a normal conversation in the front, but the radio volume had to be high to hear anything well. Never having driven a DP I can't comment on the ride, but I have been satisfied with the ride of our coach. It allowed us to get into a diesel coach at quite a discount. If I win the lottery, I will test drive a big old DP. The rest of the info quoted is spot on and well known.

A better comparison for a FRED is how it compares to a comparable gas model. We bought ours as it had a better ride and was less noisy than a gasser of the same model. It also came with a diesel generator, larger fuel tank and, most important the chassis allows significantly more cargo capacity. It gets better mpg than a comparable gasser but diesel costs more, rides better and is quieter than an identical house with a gas engine. Routine maintenance (oil/filter changes, etc) are more expensive than gas. It is not nearly as quiet, however as a DP, and the ride is not as good as a DP. Good luck with your choice.
