Freedom 458 overtemp

I have a National Pacifica 2008 with a Freedom 458 that works well, but the internal fan never comes on. With our hot temps now, I get an overtemp light on the 458. What is probably wrong, defective fan, or defective fan control.

It looks like a pretty easy fix if its just replacing the fan.

Thanks,
Phil

I would replace the fan. It's cheap and easy to do. The ones I've seen are just standard computer cooling fans.
Then if you still have a problem with overheating, you would have eliminated the fan as the problem

Pull the fan power leads and hook it to a 9v battery, if the fan works the problem is with the control board. If the fan does not work replace the fan.

Update!!

Well, I replaced the fan on the Xantrex Freedom 458 and everything seems to be working. The fan cycles on and off as needed, and I don't get the overtemp light and unit temporary shut-down. Works great.

Just FYI - this appears to be the original inverter/charger manufactured in October 2006. Pretty reliable even though it doesn't produce a true sine wave.
