Freightliner parts

Hi there everyone,

We live full time in our 2003 Allegro Bus which is on a Freightliner chassis. The dimmer switch on our rig has failed and we need to get a new one. Does anyone have a reliable source for dash parts for Freightliners. We tried the Freightliner parts website, and entered the part number into the search and there was nothing found.

Thank you everyone for your help and safe travels! - Eric and Carol Anderson -

Freightliner doesn't make the components it uses, it gets them from various suppliers. You'd probably be more successful finding the switch by taking it to an auto or truck parts store and see if they can match the number to a manufacturer and part.

Call Freightliner with your serial number. They should give you a part number you will have to go to a Freightliner dealer and order. My experience has been they will not take a charge card you must go and pay. You may find at a large truck dealer in stock. I think they answer the phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I've ordered parts direct from Freightliner Custom Chassis (FCCC, not Freightliner truck) and paid with a credit card over the phone. They probably don't stock parts that are no longer used in current production, though. A phone call to their Help line (1-800-FTL-HELP) should get you a part number and maybe the supplier name, though. Have the last 6 of the VIN handy when you call.

However, I'm not sure the dash light switch came from Freightliner at all. Mine did not - the coach builder put the dash together, with some components from FCCC (e.g. ignition switch & air brake knob) and the rest their own stuff. Tiffin may be more help to you than FCCC.

I was thinking he was describing an integrated, multiple function turn signal stalk for his dimmer control of high/low beams. If it is the dimmer function of the dash lights on the driving light switch, I agree, it could probably be replaced with any number of light switches or even a separate dash dimmer switch.

It is the dimmer knob for the gauge back lights. It came stock with our 2003 Allegro bus. I will give Freightliner a call and see what they can do for me. Thanks for the help everyone! :-)
