Freightliner XC Fuel Filling Problems

Hi All;

I found this older thread on here, and we are having the same problems:

https://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/fue...ns-476876.html

That thread includes this post:

You should give them a call with your VIN and see what they're will to do.
We have been struggling with this issue for years on our XC chassis (it's a 2007 Tropical T340) and just came across this thread. We've been in contact with Daimler, who (via recorded message) refers us to our local Freightliner dealer for all recall information (there's no live person to talk to at Daimler/Freightliner).

The dealer tried to help, searched via our VIN and was not able to find any voluntary recall information on this (or any other) issue. Based on other research we've done, the fuel backup/spillage seems to be related to improper venting, perhaps as a result of a rollover valve on top of the fuel tank.

Question: Does anyone have a recall number for this Freightliner XC chassis issue (voluntary or otherwise)? We've pretty much hit a dead end with Daimler/Freightliner, their local dealer, and our own research.

Thanks very much for any help.

Are you calling FCCC in Gaffney NC? You want to make sure you're calling Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation as they are the subsidiary of Freightliner/Daimler that make the motorhome chassis. They are answering the phone on their 24/7 Direct Infinite Support line (go HERE) as I called them recently for somebody else who claimed that they couldn't get a live person to talk to. I was able to get a live person with less than 2 minutes being on hold ...this was about 2:30 PM EDT.

They will have all the information on your specific chassis if you give them your VIN. They should know what chassis recalls and TSBs that have been issued and also recalls completed on your unit.

It seems to me, however, that the venting issues wasn't an actual recall.

eta: go HERE for an old thread on another forum that discusses the problem on Winnebagos. However, one person participating in the thread had a 2006 National Tropi-cal.
