Fresh water tank

We have a 2007 Fleetwood Expedition and when you are filing the fresh water tank it starts backfilling on the ground. It is hard to see behind the panel as to what is causing it, check valve? Or even how to get to it to repair. Does anyone have and suggestions, help etc? Or email address is hjsteeg@myyahoo.com.

Help us out with some more details.
1. Are you filling up the tank through a gravity fill or is it at the same connection where you hook up to the water spigot during normal operations (by turning a valve at your vehicle's connection)?
2. Where is the water hitting the ground? Close to your hose connection, or from beneath the freshwater tank, or some other place.
3. Does the leak begin as soon as you start filling, or does it begin 5 or 10 minutes after you begin to refill?

If you have gravity fill, my 2019 has gravity fill on both side and tank vent on one side, take one of the gravity fill caps off to see if it stops, also check the tank vent to see if water is coming out there.

I'm not a Fleetwood owner, but is the water coming out all over out the bottom or out of a pipe/hose? If the latter, maybe the tank is full and it's draining out of the overfill plumbing and out the drain tube. Thus not a leaking tank but rather a bad water sensor telling you it's not full.

A worse case would be the tank is cracked. Was it exposed to sub-freezing temps with water in it? If this is the case I've seen some who have attempted repairs with a 'plastic soldering kit', but since you're only pouring hot plastic on a cold surface (a cold joint) it will not adhere well and the fix won't take or will be a very short-term fix at best. You'll need to replace the tank.

Hope I'm wrong and it's something simple.

Good luck

In my 2008 Discovery the gravity fill is on the passenger side, it does fill slow. If the water is coming out the bottom of the tank, you have a problem.
There is a plate on the frame that can be removed and inspect drain pipe from fresh water tank.
My drain pipe for the fresh water came unglued and the water just flowed out.
You have to look real close on the frame, as they have covered the plate with tar. It is about 6 inches tall by 12 " long. This will get you to where the drain pipe attaches to fresh water tank. Must have been a shortage of glue that day, cleaned it up and re glued. Did it 3 years ago, still holding fine. The inspection plate is there, look hard, slide out.
