I have a 2001 Pace Arrow Vision and something is happening that I have never experienced. For some reason when connected to city water my fresh water tank seems to be filling up by my gauge. Seems to happen when I use my freshwater pump along with city water hookup.
Was wondering if anyone has experienced this and what was the cause? Have never had this happen before even when I used pump along with city connection.

Thanks for any comments on this issue.

2 ways of water getting to fresh water tank when connected to city water:

Thru 'FILL' valve (if you have water panel)
OR
Backflow thru pump cause internal check valve is leaking

When connected to city water and pump ON.....pump shouldn't even start/run UNLESS city water supply pressure drops below pump start set point (typically 30 psi or 40 pis---depending on which pump you have.)

Pump ON while using city water would have no bearing on whether internal check valve leaks or not.

Running off pump (city water off) can help remove any debris/scaling that is keeping internal check valve from properly closing

Depending on you're coach configuration you either have -

1. A sticking check valve between the pump and the tank if you're fresh water tank is a gravity fill type

OR

2. The manual diverter valve used to send water to fill the tank or send water to the house is leaking.

How do you normally fill the fresh water tank? That valve should be the first clue to your mystery.

Haven't heard pump cycle while pump on with city water connection. City water connection off now and pump on I will use it to clean up anything that might be causing the sticking of check valve.

As others have said, only 2 ways for your fresh tank to fill up while hooked up to city water; either your water pump's check valve is leaking back into the tank, or the "city water tank fill" valve (if so equipped) is leaking when it is turned off (this is, of course, assuming that the valve is turned off, right?).

One quick thought. It may be my pump sticking because it didn't start filling until I turned on pump along with city water hookup. That's when In notice the tank increase but I didn't hear pump cycling??

The pump (whether cycling or not) can't fill your tank; it pulls water FROM the tank, so IF it was running, it would simply pull from the tank and put the water back into the tank. The pressure introduced by the city water hookup could, however, be leaking back through the pump's check valve without ever causing the pump to cycle. It's possible that using the pump introduced some piece of foreign object from the tank (a piece of sand is all it would take) into the valve. In which case, running & cycling the pump a few times after turning off the city water might dislodge it.
