Fresh water tank question

Hi all,

I was sanitizing my fresh water tank a couple days ago for the first time, 2019 Fleetwood Bounder using the gravity fill port. I had a gallon counter so I would know when it was full. Tank is 100 gallons, when the counter got to 98 water started leaking from underneath the rig, I assumed it was full and carried on with the sanitizing. The manual says when it’s full water will overflow from the gravity fill hole. Fleetwood manuals don’t appear to be updated much in the last 8-10 years. Anyone know if this is normal or could I have a leak somewhere at the top of the tank?

Thank you.

Probably an overflow port - VERY common. Mandatory actually, in case the gravity fill isn't open.

I'd say you were not quite level and the overflow port was reached due to being out of level.

Or there were a few gallons of water left over from the factory/dealer setup and testing. The drains will normally not get every drop out of the tank. The overflow is perfectly normal and is a necessity to keep a tank from blowing out if the water is left in fill position.

the tank capacity can be plus or minus, they aren't regulated very closely other than the NSF material

my 2018 Fleetwood Pace Arrow has fill ports on both sides. I open both caps when filling . my previous HR had a overflow hose, mud dobber blocked it and the tank leaked at the hose to tank seal. not good.. I'm just over cautious and assure myself of no unnecessary repairs..
