I run ours, but if we stop off level I shut it off and put a laminated “Fridge” sign on my seat so we remember to turn it back on when we are ready to start driving again. My understanding is stationary off level is the issue.

Our refrigerator is always on Auto. It always runs on gas when we travel except when we run the generator for our central A/C. It switches automatically to electric. It is 13 years old and we have never had a problem with it.

I turn my refer on 24 hours before we leave out and turn it off when we return and unload the RV.

Ok Old Biscuit hit it. I get it now. Traveling keeps things sloshing around, got it. Yes I would imagine that a long grade could cause a disruption in things flowing but we don't hit many grades in the areas we travel. Also, have an arp but haven't installed it yet. Will do that when we get home the beginning of next month.

Been RV'ing since 1957 when my parents rented a TT with an ice box. 1958 they ordered a TT with a three way refer. When I got my first TT on 1968 it had a three way refer. Ran it on gas when underway. Continued to do that right up till we got the present rig with large battery bank, 400 watts of solar and residential fridge. Don't miss the gas/electric absorbtion refers at all. Changed the gas cooktop out to an inductiom unit that isn't hooked to the inverter, that might be a mistake!

I would recommend the ARP protection device. Then you don't have to worry about it!

I have always traveled with fridge on in every coach we've had. My Norcold in my second coach had such anemic cooling that turning it off would result in food safety issues.
