Fridge Receptacle has No Power

Hi! A friend has a 2004 Newmar Mountain Aire. Over the weekend, both the fridge and water heater will not work on AC. Tested the fridge receptical and there is no voltage. Also, no power to the toggle switch on water heater. It seems like a gfci is tripped but the bathroom and kitchen are still hot. Also, receptical in the inverter cargo bay is live and inverter resets were not tripped. What am I missing???

Assume you went thru the circuit breakers. I don't believe the water heater is on GFCI.

If a 50 amp RV, could be missing one leg of power. Did you test for 240 volts at the shore cord outlet ? Also 240 volts between the 2 main breakers in the RV ?

If using a dog bone adaptor to 30 amps, make sure you have 120 volts on each main breaker to neutral, in the RV main panel. Dog bone ties L1 and L 2 together.

Fridge receptical has no power

If you don’t have or don’t know how to test the power coming in you can turn off the power at the post and try it on generator power. Turn those loads off and let the generator warm up first before turning them on. This way you can determine if it’s shore power or something related.

Over the years, I have found GFCI's in some of the weirdest places. Mounted on the overhead in a storage compartment. Hidden behind panels and inside cabinets. Some times you just have to keep looking. Also, there is sometimes no logic regarding what is on which GFCI.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I can't add to what others have suggested but noticed that you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hohen is right, we have 3 GFCI's in our RV. So if you've only found 1 it may pay to keep looking for more.

Never saw a fridge or water heater on a GFCI - but, I also haven't seen every rig that's on the road - or met the technician that assembled those rigs!
