We have a crack in our windshield Miramar 34.3 . Cannot get insurance adjuster out until Monday in the meantime we have a trip planned. Do we go with cracked wind shield or cancel the trip.

How bad is the crack? There are many hundreds of vehicles traveling down the road with a cracked windshield.
My point is that windshields are made with a laminated shaterproof method termed Safety Glass. This means it will not shater like the glass in your house.

I won't tell you to just go with it because anything can happen.

My windshield had a rock hit it some 6 years back. That chip developed into a crack that traveled across the whole windshield. I had a high deductible and no glass coverage then so drove it like that for about 5 years. Even with the crack, annual state inspections always went fine. There were a few times when we hit some really rough roads that I thought might take out the windshield but it never budged.

Again, results will vary so i'd go with what you feel comfortable doing.

I would have thought your insurance company would have sent you to one of their contracted auto glass places, or had them come to you. I have State Farm and they asked me to send in a picture of the cracked area and after the replacement was approved , then they gave me a list of several glass replacement places. I called one and they ordered the glass, and after about 5 days we had it installed.

I think the glass is always 2 layers. If only outer layer cracked, I’d go with no worries. Both and I’d be more concerned.

In Colorado, if you don't have a cracked windshield, people will look at you funny. Go with it, makes you look as if you've been someplace exotic.

I had my windshield replaced yesterday. I have State Farm who did not question the replacement or inspect the crack. We had a trip planned and the windshield was not in stock and was placed on order. We went on an 1800 mile trip and scheduled installation when we returned. I was not concerned about the windshield failing on the tripl
