Frequently truck shops won't work on motorhomes because of the potential/probability of getting grease inside

rastis,
Can you confirm yours is an F-53 chassis Ford? For some odd reason, you or, maybe I should say your coach is being rejected for some really simple service/maintenance/repair. The brake components, namely the rotors, pads and calipers, are nothing but truck equipment, PERIOD! Even if your chassis was a GM and, you took it to a Ford Truck Service Center, they can still do it, and have in the past. Brake work is brake work, not rocket chemistry.

It is surely too bad you're experiencing this rejection in world and time frame where and when, there are so many folks out of work, including automotive/truck technicians. It's been a long time since I purchased rotors and calipers for our previous coach, a '99 Fleetwood Bounder 34V with the V-10 and F-53 chassis but, if I recall, two calipers and pads, along with 2 rotors were no more than around $300. But, that was quite a few years ago. I've not looked those kinds of things up recently but, even at twice the price, around $600 for those items, it's not all that bad.

I'm just amazed at the amount of service centers that are rejecting work. Heck, I'd do it for ya it you were close.

I went back to a service center who did the manifold. They were happy to do it. I ended up needing rotors calipers hoses and abs sensors The rotors and calipers were original equipment. The brakes had gotten so hot the ABS sensors melted into lumps. I have only driven this MH from ohio where I bought it and to brown county with horses. From now on I will stick with Rod's. They did me right. still cost alot 2100

When I had my Bounder (F53) I was surprised on how inexpensive the brake components were since they were so big and heavy compared to an auto. I still use two of the old rotors to weight things down while glue is drying
I think I just went to the AutoZone and they had everything in stock (that's how common they are).

i got so angry at the lack of reliable service from the regular rv shops that i called a mobile repair guy. it's $225 to come out but...he allows me to drive it to his place so i only pay for parts/labor. and he fixes it right the first time.

(i recently had him come out to work on my slide out cuz' it wouldn't go back in; even with the crank. turned out to be a fuse, took him 10 minutes to find it...$225.)

I did brakes on a 1995 f53 in a campground in Murfreesboro tn when working for Camperforce. Harbor freight 10 ton bottle jack. Pulled rear axle shaft, pulled duals off. Swapped roter and pads. Couldn’t get anyone to turn te rotor. Parts from O’Reilly
Two Saturdays. Was tie to buy a nice torque to repace a stolen one .
Rounded up square wood blocks for safe supports, no expensive shop jacks required. Under 500$. Loaner tools available from O’Reilly .

Dealers dont stock a bunch of parts. They have distribution centers.
A dealer stealer worthy of its salt will use local suppliers. P30 is commonplace for Chevy

Why would they get Chevy P30 parts from Ford when they are available new and re-manufactured from Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, etc for as low as $32 per caliper?

See: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/c3...69484466588085

I was stuck on an abandoned airfield in rural Alabama and needed to replace calipers, etc on my coach and was able to purchase the parts and do the job myself right where I was stranded. Yes most said they could not do the job even though these gas coaches are basically glorified Bakery and Laundry trucks commonly used across the country and you really do not need to get inside the coaches to work on the brakes. Finding parts at very reasonable prices even in rural Alabama was not a problem at all. I really did not need any exotic tools and only had to purchase a large C-Clamp since I already had some socket and open end wrenches with me. I did splurge on a MitiVac vacuum pump to make bleeding the brakes easier however that only added about $35 to the job.

I am a disabled senior citizen who walks with a cane and was able to deal with it. Took me a little longer but it really is not that bad of a job if you have Archimedes as your friend and make use of levers (a 4 foot 2X4 with beveled ends) and such to help jockey the tires around.

What chassis do you have? If it is a f53 check with Ford truck dealers. If it is a Workhorse check with GM truck.
