fuel delivery problem

I have a mechanical 8.3 Cummins in a 97 Monaco. After a trip I was headed home when coach died 10 miles from home. I noticed the engine running low on power then low fuel light came on then engine died like it ran out of fuel, this all happened in 30 second time span. I put more fuel in and spent a couple hours trying to bleed engine without any success and had it towed home. Replaced fuel water separator and main fuel filter, bled system right up to the banjo fitting, would not start. Purchased a new mechanical pump and installed, purged again and started up fine, ran for about 15 minutes. The next day I could not get it started and noticed the clear sight glass fuel bow on the water seperator was empty. I purged the system over and over without success. I finally temporarily hooked up a 12v electric fuel pump at the fuel tank I had and bled the air out again, started right up but as soon as I turn off the electric pump (thinking the air is bled out) I can see the level of fuel in the sight glass drop until the engine runs out of fuel, have repeated this procedure over and over, same result.

By the way I also disconnected the fuel supply hose at the fuel tank and capped the rubber hose right at the mechanical pump and tested it with 20 pounds of air pressure, no leak. Also blew compressed air from the bulkhead fitting on top of the tank back into the tank to clear any debris that may or may not have been at the bottom of the tank or in the drop tube. Also tested the drop tube itself for leaks.

My pressure test proved inconclusive since under pressure I did not experience any leaks, leading me to believe it had to be a vacuum leak, I bypassed the fuel water seperator and the engine started up and runs fine with the mechanical pump. So my conclusion is o ring failure. FIXED!! YEAH!!
