Run with the generator and dash air most of the time at 60 MPH and get 7 MPG - got to keep the dogs COLD!

When I had a V-10 in a 22,000 lb chassis, I usually averaged 1.5 miles per quart of gasoline. Sometimes less.

Finished a 6,336 mile trip east and back early this month. According to my spreadsheet, we averaged 8.3 mpg.

That's a 36 foot Ford F53, no toad, and barely ever hit 70 mph. Generator on average half a day. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have a 2008 370 Georgetown! Flat tow a 2010 Ford Flex! Average about 8 mpg at about 62 mph! But the fun per mile is even better!

Wondering what others are getting.
OPs question was about a Workhorse chassis and many are replying w/r/t a Ford Chassis.

To the OP - we had a 2008 22k 8.1 Workhorse chassis for nine years. Our mpg averaged 8.5-9 without a toad, and about 7 with a toad (Honda CR-V). Both Highway at approx. 58-60 mph and state roads at approx. 55 mph. Both worse if windy. Seldom ran the generator while driving but it made only a nominal difference to mpg if we did.

So yes, something is wrong with your engine and would start with fuel filters and air filters as others have said.

Were you running the Generator, and how did you compute gas mileage? Did you take a computer readout or did you do the math of miles traveled over fuel to refill the tank? Running the generator can reduce your mpg by a bit over 1 mpg.
