Gas Spring for generator slide.

We have a 1999 Winnie Ultimate freedom 40' deisel with a 7.5 kW Onan gen-set. recently we cane down on a large rock, and the rather large gas strut that assist the generator in sliding out was bent. After attempting to "straighten" the strut piston, it still provides a lot of resistance in both opening and closing. When I refer to the Winnebago reference materials, I find nothing, making it impossible to locate a replacement. Can any of you guys help me out?

Most of the gas springs I've replaced usually have a part number inprinted on the housing, if I can't get one at the auto parts or CW I go to Amazon. If you can find out the mfg. Google them, take some measurements and find your part you might be able to order from them also. Is there more then one GS if so maybe the other one will help ID the part. Did you try calling the vehicle MFG for help. Most odd things I've come across calling CS of the MH mfg usually helps. Good luck with your search.

Don't forget, the length is just one parameter, you need to know the load rating, type of rod and cylinder ends, although there probably spherical ends for a ball and socket. Since there mounted at or near your gen set that might add to it's special type. Good luck in your quest

I just bought a gas spring from McMaster-Carr. I have seen springs on there from 15 lbs to 250 lbs force. And that was just on one page. They have multiple.

Here's a link to one page. McMaster-Carr gas springs
