As with the other threads, “better” is subjective. With gassers, I believe it comes down to how the coach is built and how well it is insulated vs the drivetrain. An entry level Thor coach is probably going to be noisier and less insulated than a Newmar Canyon Star.

Oh well then they both do the same thing the same way. They burn lots of gas and move a fiberglass box down the road.

is one louder and rougher riding then the other?
it seems like this is why people go to the dp over gassers. but all i see are people comparing the dp to the ford drivetrain and chassis

Well now you’re going down the gas vs diesel rabbit hole. I own a 2016 Newmar on a F53 chassis, and I have no problem traveling anywhere while towing my Chrysler Town & Country behind me.
There’s lots of threads here about properly weighing the coach, inflating the tires, alignment etc to get the most out of the chassis.
The “louder” part goes back to speaking to how the coach was built.

From what folks have said, in its day, the Workhorse chassis with the V8 Vortec could be argued to be better than the Ford V10 of the same period. But, I don't think that you could make that argument when comparing to 5 speed and 6 speed Ford chassis of more recent years. But.....I'm sure there will be!

Know your comfortable budget and drive both up and down long hills and if you can steep hills as well. I think my 5 speed WH is pretty quiet but haven't driven a Ford.

I had a 2000 37 ft Winnebago with the v 10. I had it for five years. They like to scream going up big hills, but they get you to the top. I never had any issues with my Ford drivetrain. It had about 60,000 miles on it when I sold it. I have never had a Chev rv, so no help there. Maybe someone here has owned both.

If our coach was available on the GM chassis w/ the 8.1 it would have never been a question as to my choice for chassis.
My comparison of the 8.1 vs the V-10 isn't as family friendly as the forum would like.

Well I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish then. They both make similar amounts of horsepower and torque. They both have spring suspensions in similar GVWR’s. They both weigh about the same. They both have 5 or 6 speed transmissions.
Other than the UFO chassis, they’re both basically the same thing. Plus or minus 2 cylinders.

The engines and tranny stuff are really going to perform about the same. Biggest difference is the longer wheelbase coaches only come in a Ford. The fords have higher payloads which is why they are more common.

I'm a Chevy guy so I've spent most of my life biased but in a perfect world I would buy the Ford V10 with the Allison transmission.
