Generac highline Q-55G just buzzes on start
Ran fine. Shut it off overnight and now simply clicks. Solenoid? Starter? Connections appear fine. Batteries are fully charged. Where is the starter located? Where is the selenoid located? I’m new to the generator game and want to be careful to not screw something up. I’ve worked on car starters etc. Are they similar? Thanks. Btw I am schematically challenged so a description would be advantageous. Thanks.

Bigger question might be why did it shut off? Could it be locked up? Is it capable of turning over?

Just to the right of your picture, just behind the control panel, is a solenoid.
On mine the battery cable on one side of the soleniod was loose.
There should also be a short ground cable, from the generator frame, to the chassis, with self tapping screws. They can get loose.
In the house battery box, should be two large red cables. One is for the generator. That cable goes to a breaker that may have corroded connections.
If you have a volt meter, connect it to the solenoid hot side. You should see 12 volts.
Still reading the meter, push the start button. If the volts drop to 0, there is a bad connection. If it drops to 10 volts, something is seized on the generator.

Did you check oil and coolant levels, I think unit has safety sensors for low oil or coolant that will prevent it from running. Good Luck

Prevent it from running, but not from cranking, which is his complaint.

twinboat hit the highlights. The starter is on the right in the rear. Mine needed the top cover removed to allow the generator to slide out far enough to access the starter. A real tight space job. Mine the magnets in the starter broke and were jamming the armature. What you describe as buzzing is probably the fuel pump running. I jumped across the selenoid to start it when the selenoid went bad. Be cautious what you use and what you touch, it can produce lots on spark and heat and burn up your control board if the wrong things are touched. Not to mention fire.

I own the same rv generator. If your rv is a drivable rv. There is a emergency shut down for the generator. If the gas gets too low the generator will not start so that you can make it to the gas station because the rv and the generator runs off the same gas tank. So before you go and try and replace everything. Fill the gas tank over half a tank. Then try to start again

That's not the OP's problem. Low fuel will not cause it to not CRANK.
