Generator problems

We have 05 Georgie Boy class A. 5200 onan generator. Last night power went out in house so we went out to MH, turned on Generator, watch tv for about an hour and generator died. Turned it back on ran a few minutes and died again. Did that about three times. Any ideas? Thank you in advance?

What does it do when it is cold again. Same behaviour or does it run for awhile?

If you have the manual find the section on how to read the codes that flash on the start switch. If it is flashing a code the manual will tell what the problem is. If you don't have the manual you should be able to download it, do a search for the model number.

Is this a gasoline, propane or diesel generator?

It's possible that you need to have the fuel pump replaced. They can get gummed up if not used routinely.

Yes, starts up and runs a bit when cold. Full tank of gas, code 47 ignition, gas engine, replaced fuel filter.. It's almost like it shuts down when it warms up? Thank you all.

When I first read this, oil pressure immediately came to mind? Will this engine shut down if oil pressure gets low, i.e. low oil level and its thining out as it warms up?

I'm new to the generator world, so I'm following this. (Our "New To Us" has a genny, never had one before)

Go to the attached search page, scroll down to "Caution: This document contains mixed page sizes. Click on that link you will download the service manual for Onan generators. I did, it's 7 mb to large to to post here. The manual has a good testing procedure for Code 47.
Don't waste your time clicking on the other links on the search page. Most are worthless or contain spam.

Try the generator with no load for at least 20 minutes then apply loads. Also maker sure your altitude knob is in the right position, it turns by hand if it is not adjusted to your current altitude it can shut down
