As long as it's a 5500 HGJAB, will it be an easy swap? Thanks in advanced for your help!

They are all built on the same platform, so physically they should be easy. I'm not even sure what the difference is between them. I think the remote plug for inside start is the same on all of them.
Do you use your generator a lot? How many hours on it? 5 grand is a lot of scratch. Are you sure it can't be repaired? Other than being heavy they are pretty easy to remove. Most are on a steel frame with 4 bolts. It took 3 of us to lift it out and get it on the bench but easy to work on once the outside cowling is off.
Colaw has a 5.5HGJAB-1038D. I'm not quite sure what the difference the E vs the D is. I think a lot of these model numbers just have to do with when they were manufactured, the ignition system and the control board. When I had mine out and worked on it I ordered parts for it without the last 4 digits
Depending on how much you use it, how old your coach is, most of the time when they have used generators they are relatively low hours. Went and picked one up for a friend that had 55 hours and was half the price of new.
