Good Tire Shop, Eastern MA?

Hi All,

It is time to replace the tires on the motorhome and I am trying to find a reputable shop in Eastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island that can do the work. Most of the places I have contacted either don't have large enough bays or handle trucks, but not Class A's.

Has anyone found a tire sales/service shop they like?

Thanks!

I'll be going to Warren tire in Pawtucket RI this week. Local Tire dealer, honest and reasonable.

My tires were installed by Sullivan Tire Truck Center in Warwick, RI by the previous owner. I had an issue with one tire and it needed to be inspected to the federal flat tire requirements so I took the coach to them. That's when I found out they didn't balance the back wheels. They also didn't install the didn't put the correct valve stems in for the filtered cores anddidn't put the correct valve stems in for using filtered cores. That explains why the tire was always losing air that went flat (flat being defined by losing 20% air pressure or more). Their inspection involved looking at the tire and stating it was OK. Federal requirements are to dismount and inspect the inside of the tire and then a specialized procedure for re-inflation to ensure the tire won't fail with a zipper failure. Needless to say I will never go back.

I then went to Ocean State Tire in Cranston, RI to have the same tire inspected. They not only knew of the federal inspection requirements but followed them correctly. They also told me about the filtered cores and the installed valve stems weren't correct so I would keep having sticking valve core issues if I didn't change them out. They were very professional and knew all the correct procedures. I will now only take my coach to them for future tire service as I don't trust Sullivan and there are very few truck tire centers in RI.

I found that the company that makes the balance powder also makes a filtered valve stem extension and installation of them resolved my air loss issues.

Based on my findings I would recommend you call Ocean State Tire and speak with them.

Thanks for the replies.

It is difficult to find reputable tire dealers who want to work on motorhomes in this area. Most I have contacted would rather not deal with motorhomes. Frustrating.

I used these guys for my Winnebago Adventurer 19.5" Hancooks. They are also a Michelin Dealer and participate in the FMCA Discount program. On Rte 109 in Medway Mass.
