Goodyear Blowout
RV670 295/80R/22.5
Experienced my first blowout last week on I75 Southbound in Georgia. Did a lot of damage to my motor home. Not a fun experience.

The tire just exploded. I was in the center lane of the 3 lane I75. The motor home immediately lurched to the right very hard and very fast. It was all I could do to keep it from going into the field. I believe what saved me was not hitting the brake. I gave is the gas instead while frantically fighting the wheel to turn left and stay on the highway. Once I got control, I was able to slow down and coast to a stop.

Witnessed a very similar blow out on a friends rig on I-75 coming through Ga. in March. it was a Michelin and like yours one second it was there the next it was gone. Hard to believe they can come apart like that and that fast.

By chance, did you have Safe-T-Plus installed? We have a Newmar 3401 and are planning a cross country trip in September and are worried the same may occur. Amazing you held it on the road.

What was the tire pressure reading on your tpms before the tire blew out? Did you check your axle weights and set your tires recently?

I also would be curious as to what you had the pressure set at as well as what speed you were traveling at. Damage not as bad as some get and good job of handling it after it let go. Could have been much worse.

Had an inside dual blowout, had to have it towed 70 miles to the Workhorse dealer $2,000 and another $12,000 to repair.
Insurance covered it all.
Have you contacted your insurance company?

A TPMS does not give you any pre-warning for a blowout. I had 2 blowouts last year and the TPMS was fine until the shot gun blast sound, then the alarm went off! I even ran my hand all over the tires at a rest stop 3 miles back, like I always do at stops, everything looked good. The one G tire was only 1 1/2 years old, the other was 4 years old.

I had the same tire, same right front, same damage. What I don’t get is blow outs are going to happen, so why put wiring harnesses in harms way?
