Where is the governor to the air compressor on my '97 Freightliner chassis? The body is a Fleetwood Discovery. I can't spot what would resemble one on either the compressor or the dryer. I'm assuming it's bad because it took the pressure to 150 lb. before popping out a front tank safety valve.

Find the compressor and follow the 1/4" ( smaller ) line coming from it. It goes to the governor.

Or start at the air dryer and follow that 1/4" line. That also goes to the governor.

A lot are mounted just outside of frame rail. Mines a 1999 Spartan, but I've seen many mounted just like this.
Not visible unless you slide under passenger side of engine.

Thanks, guys! I found the governor and was prepared to replace it due to its taking the pressure to 150 lb/sq. in. I didn't have to do that because the 3/8" line going to the compressor was disconnected. Apparently, when the motor was replaced the line was installed finger tight and worked its way loose in a matter of a few hundred miles. I then had only one air leak around the front left wheel. I jumped the gun and replaced the air can diaphragm and the line going to it. After that I poured some soapy water around until I noticed that the left air bag air valve was leaking. After removing the mount screws (which appeared to be rather loose) and cleaning the mounting surface and the gasket, I reinstalled them & tightened the 4 torx screws to complete the fix. (Does anybody need a front left air valve?)
