Gray Tank Issue (Maybe)
A 2006 NationalRV SeaBreezeLX. When camping, normal procedure is to keep the valve on the gray tank closed, and every day or two drain. My wife and I do not take "military" showers, and the gray tank is only 40 gallons, so between the showers and washing dishes it can get at least 50% full.
This week were were at Ft. Wilderness at Disney (was, because Ian has messed that up....a small thing compared to the possible hurt Ian will be doing to FL starting tomorrow) and I left the gray valve open the first day, which I have done before. No problems, EXCEPT when I was finishing my shower I noticed the shower was not draining. Went out (after dressing of course) and looked, and valve was open. So I had my wife run the sink, and sure enough a small amount of water began to come out into the hose. OK, looks like the shower drain is clogged. Came back in and all the water from the shower was now gone. Hmmm....So it did the same thing today.
SO THE QUESTION - before I run a small snake through the piping or try and find the P-trap, is it a bad idea to pour a bit of liquid plumber into the shower drain? I use it here at home, and everything here is PVC, like the RV. Or is that a really, really bad idea.
Thoughts/experience would be appreciated before I dive into this after Hurricane Ian passes....
Thanks!
Al
