Greasing front of f53
Started to grease the front of 2012 newmar canyon star
Above the king pin on both sides is tube that appears to cool the rotors and breaks.
I'll remove it to get to the grease fittings, is this something to put back. The videos I saw never showed or mentioned this part

You may want to ask the mods to move your thread to the Ford Chassis forum for better answers

Or it may be a Newmar add-on. My 2002 National Dolphin had add-on ducting to help channel incoming air to the wheel wells on the Workhorse chassis.
My general attitude is that if the cheapskate RV makers spent money to include some hidden item to make things work better, it's probably been proven necessary. Maybe not for every owner, but enough of them to get the builder to part with money for it rather than risk warranty expense or bad press.

Have them on my 2017 24K F53.
Ford put them on for a reason I suspect, thus Id put them back on.

They are on my 2018 24K also, and if taken off I would put them back. I don't remove anything to grease mine, but I almost say bad words while contorting my body and arm around to hold the grease gun on. They are very difficult to get to (for me at least) but it's doable, with lots of grimacing and fussing.
Thanks,

Do you have solid pipe or grease hose on gun . A high pressure hose for grease gun is inexpensive if it makes it easier. You can get 45- or 90 angled grease zerks then tighten clock the pointed to best spot to make next time easier.

You shouldn’t have to remove the cooling ducts to grease the top of the kingpins. Just use a wrench to rotate the zero fitting so it is at a convenient angle. It does not have to be tightened as far as it will turn.

Definitely would not remove the ducts anything to help the brakes stay cooler is worthwhile. I use a 90 degree slide on fitting to get to the drivers side upper kingpin zerk. It’s the only one that requires any effort to access on my chassis.

I'll not remove them. I've looked at the slide on coupler. Thanks for the replies. Patience and scraped knuckles.
I do have a pneumatic grease gun I bought for this, so I can do this when I change oil.

I removed the original grease fittings and replaced them with ones with 45 degree angle. One of them has to be turned back a little each time to make it more accessible. After I use it I just snug it back up.
