Gulfstream Awning Issue

I have a 2005 Gulfstream Sun Voyager and I am having difficulty lowering the main awning. I have owned the RV for 4 years but have never extended the awning. I know that I saw it demonstrated when I bought the RV, but have not had a reason to extend the awning until now.

The awning cam switch on the end of the awning will not rotate between Open and Closed, but just seems to be stuck. The upper left lock also does not seem to want to release.

Trying not to force things, and end up with a damaged awning.

Any Suggestions?

Mike

Gulfstream Awning Issue

Our coach is a Winnebago but I’m sure they’re close awning wise. Our son is going to borrow ours in a couple of weeks and I was giving him a walk down. I hadn’t deployed the awning since last year and the directional switch wouldn’t budge either. I lifted on both ends (one at a time) and pulled the awning slightly away from the wall from up on a ladder. That loosened the switch up enuf to turn it to pull out (by hand, not with the reach rod). Worked fine afterwards. The directional switch must’ve been under some pressure. Good luck!!!
