Looking for anybody who has bought one of the newer (last year or so) diesel pullers. We just ordered one--a 2007 Gulfstream Sun Voyager 39' with a front diesel engine--a 300hp Cummins Freightliner and wanted to hear from another owner as to how they like theirs? Or from anybody else for that matter, if they have any information about these?
Thanks!
Jill

Hi 007-thanks for the info--it's true, I haven't found one person yet who has experience with these rigs. My understanding is they've been around for about a year now, so I hoped there'd be somebody on these forums. Oh well, guess I'll be that person!

The FRED Chassis made it's debut at last year's Louisville trade show and then at this year's RV show in Hershey in September.
FRED Rolls Into Hershey, PA
Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation will reveal its innovative FRont-Engine Diesel motorhome chassis, now referred to as "FRED," at the 37th Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show in Hershey, PA, September 14 through 18.
FRED was developed around extensive surveys conducted with current gas-RV owners who indicated a strong desire to have a diesel engine option under their favorite gas motorhome floorplan.

Jill , not to worry. The FRED chassis is a very competaint chassis. I have liked them since their inception, the Cummins will do the job for you for many years. I test drove one in Hershey and liked it. It does have compatition in the form of the new workhorse UFO, but the UFO is in a whole different catagory. The FRED has it's own personality, and I'm sure you will end up loving old FRED. Oh by the way Congrats

Thank you all for your replies! We are very excited about getting our new motorhome, but a little nervous becuase of the newness of the FRED. Thanks, Jestme13-you are the only one out of several forums that has even driven one! Glad to hear you liked it.
Rebelsbeach, that is one of the reasons we wanted this particular motorhome--the floor plan is incredible, in our opinion. Take a look at the gallery for #8389 and the floorplan: http://www.gulfstreamcoach.com/sunvoyager/index.html#
The other reason is we wanted to go from a gas to a diesel, and wanted new if possible, but couldn't afford most of the diesels we found. The FRED was less expensive.
Probably won't get it until late November, and will report back.
Jill

Thank you! It was one of the last RVs we looked at at the RV show, in fact, we found it by accident--they didn't have it showcased very well. It is called three-zone living--it gives the feel of three separate rooms--living room,
dining room/kitchen, and bedroom. Plus there's an actual hallway to get to the bedroom, as well as getting to it from the bathroom. Very interesting to us.

Jill, we looked at that exact model at our dealer in PA and were very impressed by it. That one was a gasser, but the dealer said we could have a FRED for about the same price, hence my interest to test drive the FRED.
