Heat Pump not working - could EMS be impacting it?

Hi,
I just bought a 2005 Itasca Horizon 40AD. It has an RVP Products Heat Pump (model 6537-671) that doesn't seem to be working. When I test the electric heat, and the electric cooling, neither works. The gas heat does work, as does the fans.

Along with that issue, the Intellic EMS is not recognizing 50amp service. I ran through the diagnostics on that, and pretty confident that it's the circuit board.

So my question is, could the issue with the heat pump be related to the issue with the EMS?

Darryl

The ems is designed to shut things off if you don't have enough voltage if it is malfunctioning it may be your problems.

With your house batteries fully charged, unplug the 110vac from your converter (probably behind the lowest drawer under your range).

Unplug and re-plug the 50A shore power cord.

If the EMS display clears up, and correctly displays 50 A and the load shedding LEDs are all ON, you may have a problem w/ a faulty converter.

Do a search here of other EMS problems for other potential solutions.

Could also be that you have 2 separate problems showing at the same time....

good luck

Remember that when you are plugged into 50 amp service the display will not show the amps reading. Only when on generator, 30 & 20 amp service.

Have you checked the breakers ? Also sometimes the thermostat contacts can get dirty.

Actually its when you don't have enough Amperage and has no effect when on a 50 amp service or generator.

But if it is malfunctioning, like mine was due to a failing converter sending it "dirty" 12vdc, it might not recognize the 50A service and still shed some items. (the converter was bleeding AC voltage over to the DC output) The EMS was very sensitive to that problem and went bonkers.

That is what happened to me and others, according to Winnie and Parrallax, so I'd at least rule out that possible cause.

Since replacement of the converter, no EMS issues in years.

I think I do have two problems - I've tried the above. Pretty sure I have an EMS circuit board issue.

What I'm really wondering is whether or not the EMS issue could be causing the heat pump issue.
