Oak Plantation Campground just outside of Charleston is a very easy in/out for propane and the prices are very low.

I would top off there as you never know when you may need propane for other uses.

If you are out of LP and the furnace attempts to start 3 things will happen

1: The furnace will make 3 attempts
2: It will go into LOCKOUT mode (I'll tell you how to reset)
3: You will get cold.

NOTE: if the furnace is operating and you run out of propane

Same 3 step sequence

HOW TO RESET from lock out mode

Turn heat off (Or re-adust T-Stat) and turn back on after refilling Propane tank or hooking up external tank.

Recommendation.. Visit an RV store and ask about an "Extend-a-stay" kit, you want the Delux version for a Class A.. Or pick up a spare tank for a Trailer.. NOTE on spare tanks.. If you get a smaller one than the ones that are in there, get a wood box to set it on (or any other kind) to make up for the difference in height so the fittings line up.

Extend-a-stay delux allows you to fire up a portable grill using MOTOR HOME Propane... or fire the Furnace using portable propane.. Been there Done that Kept warm. Enjoyed dinner.

I carry a couple little electric space heaters all the time. You can get them many places, look at Home Depot or Lowes. Less than $20 bucks.

I'm a newbie and have a questionregarding this kind of condition. When the temp drops below freezing while on a trip, will the water system freeze if the coach is warm? I have a 1988 33' Southwind. the tanks appear to protrude below the floor.

Heating Question

Not only are the tanks below the coach floor. So are some pipes and drain valves. Which are for the most part more susceptible to freezing and damage. The lower the temps the more chance of damage. But you didn't say a temp range

At 0 degrees Celsius 32 F you should have no problems.
