Help...leaking brake cylinder.

The MH has an air over hydraulic brake system. I noticed that that one of the master brake cylinders is leaking brake fluid from a weap hole on the base of the pneumatic actuator. The markings on the cylinder are as follows; 30052, 12877 03, Maxi Brake Type 30, N30169E 118K. Can anybody direct me to a company that either sells the brake cylinder or a seal kit which is what I would rather do before replacing the whole unit as it looks expensive.

Thanks.

Martin

You'll probably need to contact Spartan with your Chassis # and they can give you details and specifications of the part. You can buy from them or take the information and shop elsewhere, they may have a rebuild kit for it.

You have a Spartan Chassis, then go to a Spartan Dealer for service. It's a given that they will have the parts and knowhow to do the repair.

Yes, thanks. I did give Spartan a call $800 for a new unit......ouch!!!! No remans available. Also found a new cylinder for $500. Long term, I think the better way maybe is just pay the $800 and get the complete unit new as brakes are something that I really don't to compromise on when it comes to safety.

FYI for those folks who's MH have this braking system. I was told that the air pod (actuator) can be rebuilt, the parts can be sourced from your local auto or truck parts store. As for the cylinder its self, the best I can offer at this point in time is the fact that when I will pull this apart I will take the seals into a brake shop or auto/truck parts store to see if they can match up new seals. This will then become a spare assembly for the future if needed. I will keep all posted. Spartan was very helpful and did sell me a replacemant at a reduced price. They have been unable to source overhauled units or parts.
