I'm asking this question because I don't know not to pick a quarrel of some kind. I have used products like Armor All® on Fire vehicle tires before parades and other public events. I hope we wouldn't have been given stuff to use that could have accelerated tire wear. Are there specific products which should be avoided? Why is dull better than shiny? is it because shiny indicates the use of a product which will speed up tire aging or because there is some benefit to the tire having a non shiny surface?

100% correct - most rubber, including slide wipers and seals should NEVER get any petroleum-containing cleaner (most are for vanity and do NO good for the rubber). However, RV companies make tons of $ from folks that grab up the slide seal lubes, etc.

Aerospace 303 protectant is free of oil and silicone
Also use it on my slide seals and many other items
Used it on tires that are over 10 years old now which all look new and are stored outside
They are deep black and shiny looking like new
You do need to know what products contain and what benefits they can provide and where they can be used safely

Maybe - I'd need to look at the tire more carefully. It also depends on route and speed. I probably wouldn't take it on a cost to coast trip.
Keep in mind that when the tire blows, it often destroys plumbing, wiring, etc.
