We've got a 36 foot diesel pusher.
I drive at our sweet-spot of 63. For every 1.0 mph above your sweet spot you lose 0.1 mpg.
The ride is good, I take my time and my mileage is acceptable at 8+.

It's not that bad! If you average 10k miles a year at 7 MPG and $2.80/gal, then your yearly fuel cost is about $4000. My diesel truck gets 11 MPG pulling the camper at $3.00/gal cost $2700 in yearly fuel. The difference is only $1300 in fuel cost but I bet the gas motor was way less expensive to buy and maintain!

But I'm from California and gas is $3.69 to $4.00. If I can get to Flying J it is $3.34 but not always so lucky.

speed
I'm with the 60-65 group, my concern about driving faster than that would be whether I could maintain control in the event of an emergency. You really don't get there any faster driving 70 vs 65 because of the times you have to slow down for other traffic

Last year my Chevy front tire blew out doing 55 with my 16k fifth wheel attached. The truck still swerved into the next empty lane and felt like it tipped up on it's side before I could get it under control, it happened so fast. I'm sure there would have been a different outcome if I had been doing 70 mph.
