HOLIDAY RAMBLER coolant sensor

My coach is a 1997 Holiday Rambler Imperial with a cummins 8.3 mechanical 330 horse with side radiator. The engine coolant gauge is not working. The gauge functions when I manually ground the sending terminal. Therefore the problem appears to be loss of continuity between the gauge and the sensor or bad sensor. However, I can't locate the sensor to finish troubleshooting. I have contacted Spartan and Cummins. Cummins said it should be located on the block by the oil cooler. However this opening has a hose fitting with heater hose attached. Does anyone have any ideas of where the sensor may be?

Don't know if Cummins supports your year engine BUT

You could try to register with Cummins Quickserve,
https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html

once registered you put you engine SN in. From there you can look for parts. In most cases the parts are shown on a drawing as to where they are located.

There is lots of info on the site, I down loaded a complete maintenance manual for my engine along with a bunch of various high failure parts pages.
