All,

I must apologize for the delay in responding to some of your e-mails. I wanted you all to know, I had the patrol section check on the stranded RV this Morning. The RV is actually in the parking lot of a motel outside my city limits. I called The Sheriff’s Office and spoke with them about the situation. The family has been put up at the motel the last three nights by one of the local churches. The S.O. is at a loss as to why they keep posting about being cold etc. etc. I wanted to let each of you know the family was being attended to. I do not know what the final outcome of the situation will be but they have been connected with social services in the Leadville area and have been given, at least for the last three nights, a warm place to stay.

Thank you for caring enough to contact us.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season.

Respectfully,

R.W. Glenny Jr.

I followed this thread lightly, figuring there was more to the story. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Not to be a negative Nelly but I was having a hard time believing someone would stay in an RV that had no heat, no gas and she didn't act like she was taking anybody's suggestions to seek help. Glad there was a response from the officer before someone was taking advantage of.

My suspicions were someone was waiting more for a handout and not a 'fix' to the RV.

I hoped my suspicions were all wrong, but waiting for "now for the rest of the story".

There is nothing wrong with seeking help from sources available. If you have an RV (and they do) IRV2 is a great place to come for help. They never asked for more than that. They still have an RV and may continue to have questions.

Exactly. They asked help in finding the cause of their no-start and no-power scenario after both engines apparently ran out of fuel. I would do exactly the same in their situation.

But the OP continued to say they were cold and still in the RV, saying nothing about being put up in a Hotel for the past 3 days.

So the continuous cry for help for their RV was a cover for other intentions.

At the very least she was dishonest with people who were concerned for her safety.

Hey folks, don't be too harsh in deciding there is some kind of fraud occurring here. You aren't there, and you don't know the OP personally, so assuming the worst regarding their intentions is not fair.

I read every post, and like most of you was concerned. It will be interesting to see if this goes silent now that we have more facts. I do know this, if i am stranded some place i know a place to look for help, but i will be accurate in explaining my circumstances. I am a believer in paying forward, when its sincere .

I re-read every post, and no - Fay68 did not "continue" to say they were cold and still in the RV. Most of the posts were asking for help in diagnosing the no-power situation despite putting in new batteries.....

There may not have been fraudulent intention but she was dishonest with people who were genuinely concerned for her safety. Knowing the op is irrelevant.

Two important points.

1. She Did NOT say they were currently safe and out of the cold.

2. As recent posts have mentioned, the good nature of the people here may have been harmed and in the future they may be skeptical of such situations.

So, something has been taken and lost here.
