Hoses - Grey Tank vs Black Tank - Red vs Black

Hi, thanks for taking a sec.
I purchased a used RV that came with a Red Hose & Black Hose.
Is there a standard that everyone uses the red hose to drain the grey tank and black hose for black tank?
Or is the red just an extension?
I'd like to figure out how to continue using what was given to me correctly.
Thank you!

If you're speaking about the normal 3" waste hose going from your tank dump to the sewer, then it wouldn't matter, especially if they connect to each other. If you're speaking about a water hose, then you should make sure that it's safe for drinking water.

If it is the drain hose it is probably just an extension. Most use the same hose for grey and black water. Drain the black water first and then rinse by draining the grey water.

Assume you are taking about 3" sewer hoses. Not uncommon for rv owners to purchase one colored hose the, then a second different colored one as an extension since that was the only type and color the rv supplier had in stock at the time of purchase. Either one can be used but be sure they can be connected securely to the fittings at each end and in series to avoid an inadvertent leak.

The above pretty well explains it. You undoubtedly have only one discharge outlet which both tanks drain out of. Color of the hose you will use is a moot subject. Use what length fits the best or couple them together. Fresh water hoses are standard garden hose sized. I only use RV approved hose for my water supply even though I generally don't drink the water from campground hook ups or out of my onboard fresh water storage tank. Shorter trips we carry gallon jugs of water from home and keep them in the bath tub for travel. Longer trips we use store bought bottled water to supplement the water supply from home. I have gotten sick from consuming campground water twice so I tend to shy away from it. The water may not be bad per se but for some reason my body doesn't like it.
I carry a 25' length of green garden hose to use only for rinsing out my drain hoses. Never use your fresh water hose to clean your drain hoses especially if you use a hose rinser, which I do.
Feel free to ask questions and welcome to the forum.
