I'm in with the OP in terms of the quandary... perhaps because I'm not from a background where 6-figure purchases are made on impulse. I don't need to know everything.. but I need to have some general idea of what it takes to operate, feed, and maintain (think- pets, DVRs, or spouses... /nudge, wink) before committing.
Having farmers on both sides of my family, maybe I got a leg-up on the concepts of maintenance and repairs and operating big, heavy, slow (but potentially dangerous) machines. I think most people from similar family resources fare better with these kinds of potential issues.
But like spdrcr, I'm amazed that there is a sizable plurality of RV buyers that *seem* to think little past the dream and sales pitch until they've got a problem.
