Ended up purchasing a then 13 yr. old Country Coach. Saved 125k and got a better built, and nicer riding coach. I plan on driving this another 15 yrs, and personally I don't care what it's worth then. Buying a new coach I would lose the same in resale in just 6 or 7 years, as I paid for my used one.
Bought ours new in Aug.01 with just 79 miles on it. Sure there are newer coaches with more foo foo but that doesn't get you down the road. I have looked at the new junk for sale and I'll keep mine, thank you

Just did a 800 mile round trip...got in, fired it up and off we went. 149000 on the clock still runs perfect..no leaks, no fluid use. They do require attention though

Since an older motorhome isn't as costly many who buy older motorhomes pay cash so financing isn't an issue.

Personally, if we were to buy a motorhome today it would be an older one. We have no need for all the glitz, 3 & 4 slides or a full slide, 3& 4 televisions, 1-1/2 - 2 baths, washer/dryer, etc. The basic is just fine with us. Plus... there's a lot less to go wrong without all the computerized stuff. If it would need redecorating that would be less costly and we could do it 'our way', not theirs.

Mine is paid for. It will never be too old.

Payments are what gets old.

We just met this single fella at our CG this week (spring break vacation) who is FT, has a 1999 40' Cat 300HP Diesel Foretravel, no slides but was just beautiful. I mean this thing was gorgeous. He paid 35K for it and he loves it. No need for a loan. Was $375K new. 10 cents on the dollar...not bad aye? Runs like a champ. Didn't ask him about milage but he takes it everywhere coast to coast. He has 3 different CG memberships in addition to Escapees. He has replaced the tires, done some minor things & mod's inside, needs to replace the air bags but other than that a great MH. When you look at it from the outside, the thing looks practically brand new.

Here are a couple of data points.
I just sold a 2006 Jayco Seneca HD (diesel) in 4 days and probably could have sold 3 more in like condition and pricing. First and foremost is overall condition. There are a lot of rigs that have been neglected. The nice ones really stand out.

I replaced the Super C with a 2007 Newmar MADP with 56k on the clock. The new rig is pre DEF and has been well cared for. I am replacing all filters, fluids and belts as well as detailing the paint. When I am done, it will be in very close to new condition. I view the new (old) coach as a forever solution for us.

I wouldn't trade my 1993 Pace Arrow DP for a newer one. It's better built and more dependable than any newer model. Mine is for sale now because of unexpected health down turn and i expect a quick sale for those in the know!

I dunno... mine is nothing fancy, but I got it for below wholesale from a seller who was suffering from dealers that didn't want to accept it for a trade in because it was over 10 years old. I wanted full body paint and dual pane windows that hadn't failed and weren't fogged up... which lead me to not minding doing mods and drilling holes and adding solar. It's paid for and good enough for me.

I enjoy my 1999 Eagle, maybe more repairs involved than a new coach, but lots less maintenance than newer current EPA engines. I'm fortunate enough to know how to do my own maintenance and all repairs so that keeps it affordable.
Was 280K new,

Our HR Navigator is a 2006 and as markarbogast said of his Cross Country , it purrs like a big cat!! The amenities and quality in this 2006 are amazing and would be $450k or more in a current model. We only have 52,000 miles on so it's got many years ahead of it. We had no issue with financing or extended warranty either.

My coach was 11 years old when I got a loan from a local credit credit union. At the time I was not aware of any age restrictions.

Reading some of these posts makes me laugh. A diesel engine like a Cummins or Caterpillar at 45K miles are barely breaking in the engine. So if you have taken care of the house part, that coach should last you a long time.

We bought our U320 Foretravel coach when she was 13y.o.a. We financed thru a local credit union as 1stMH did. They didn't even bat an eye at the age. At 17 She's still "purdy" and can't beat the ride. We went with the best quality and that we we could afford. I look at some of the supposedly new coaches and just shake my head at the quality, or lack thereof!
