We are trying to reset the odometer to miles we have tried hitting the reset button but it has not changed anything not even the trip miles. It won’t even put the trip miles back to zero.

Key on.
More than two seconds but less than four seconds ; hold to reset the trip odometer .
Over four seconds hold to toggle between miles and klms .
Page two of the testing pdf that I posted ( #14)

If not working; time to pull the instrument cluster to check that the wiring is hooked up and that the switch gives zero ohms between the connectors when held.
One of the wires on the switch comes from the MC ( Message Center ) the cluster with all the warning lights the second wire is a ground , that should also test to zero ohms to the dash ground.

Here's a Freightliner wiring schematic for chassis built after Jan. 04/1999. Should cover your year.
