How to Determine if a coach has the workhorse chassis?
HI,
I tried searching and haven't found a way to dertermine if a coach we are looking at has the workhorse chassis. It is a Ford V10. The second question is there is an S at the end of model number (SBDS) on a paper in the coach. What would the S mean as nothing I have found has this last S in the model number. The coach is a 2002 Holiday Rambler, Admiral, 34SBDS.
Thank you for your time,
Dan

Not trying to to be a SA, but have you looked at the steering wheel? If there is a blue oval, its a Ford. WCC will have a yellow horse head.

How to Determine if a coach has the workhorse chassis?
It is a Ford yes but why wouldn’t the seller be able to tell you? I would ask and if they don’t know RUN [emoji125]

Thanks for the responses. I wasn’t aware of the Workhorse being a Chevy product. As for the owner, she is now getting up in years and can tell me about the fridge, stove etc.., but not about the mechanical aspects. Thanks again.

I have a 2005 Itasca Suncruiser 38J and it has a sign and both sides in front that says Workhorse chassis and it does have a 8.1 Chevy engine.

Just to clarify, Workhorse never was a "Chevy product". Workhorse was created in 1999 when it bought the "Chevy" RV chassis business from GM.
Production was moved to Union City, IN. The Workhorse company was later sold to Navistar, which later closed the company and subsequently sold the brand name and facilities to a new company that has no involvement with RVs.

All above is correct, but the official way is to check the first 3 digits on the VIN. The Workhorse Chassis company is identified by the characters 5B4 (motorhome) or 5T4 (truck).

Thanks Edgray, Wolfgang and Gary. I thought the VIN may have the answer, thank you for identifying this.

Not slamming the owner, but if she isn't conversant with the type of chassis, be prepared to change ALL the fluids and do a LOT of time dependent maintenance if you purchase, so you have a known starting point (baseline) for future maintenance.
