That's OK... I've been known to post before reading completely myself.
What I found on my MH chassis was a switch on Pos chassis batty and FL recommendation to remove Neg 1st???
After digging and emailing back & forth I found a bypass around the sw that apparently supplies the ECM memory power.

Mine was more like reading under the influence, with same result. Anyway, FL in their wisdom keeps constant power to the ecm. I know enough to disconnect before welding also, because then you want the ecm isolated. I guess it comes down to knowing you individual rig, and hopefully the learning process is not too expensive!

One small item to do before disconnecting the batteries, ensure the steps are retracted and hang something by the door inside the coach at eyeball level to remind you they are retracted. Makes for a long first step if you forget when exiting the coach.

Don't worry about the Ford ECU loosing memory. If I recall the data lost is fuel trims based on what the O2 sensors measurements. You might run a little lean or rich for a few miles and it is very unlikely you will even notice a change until the data is recovered.

If you were going to park your car for 3 weeks, what would you do to the battery?

Exactly, surely no issue for the chassis bat. Enough small unswitched loads could perhaps pull the house down.
